I’m Maddie Bee. I Believe Therapy Should Feel Like a Conversation.

My Story

I didn’t always know I’d become a therapist. But growing up in Alaska, I saw how hard it can be to find the right support — especially when the nearest provider is hours away, or when the available options don’t quite “get you”.

I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, then my Master’s in Social Work from Boston University. My education has given me perspective — and made me appreciate even more what makes this place special, and what makes living here uniquely challenging.

I’ve spent over a decade working with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and identity. I’ve worked in community mental health, the hospital, and now private practice — across every setting, one thing has stayed the same: The relationship between therapist and client is what makes the work work.

Why Telehealth

I made the choice to provide all services via telehealth for a reason: Alaska is 665,000 square miles, and mental health shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

No commute through snow, ice, or dark — join from your living room, your car, your office.

Services for the whole state— I service clients anywhere in Alaska.

Same quality of care as in-person — research confirms it.

More consistent scheduling — weather doesn’t cancel sessions

Greater comfort — many clients find it easier to open up from their on space

How I work

I draw from a blend of evidence-based approaches, and I adapt them to what you you need — not the other way around.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) — Learning to stop fighting difficult thoughts and feelings, and instead focus on living a life aligned with your values.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect — and building practical skills to shift patterns that aren’t serving you.

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) — Specialized, evidenced-based work for processing trauma — gentle, structured, and paced to your readiness.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Building skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and healthier relationships.

Motivational Interviewing — Meeting you were you’re at, not pushing, not judging. Exploring your own reasons for change.

Trauma-Informed Care — Not “what’s wrong with you?” but “what happened to you?” Safety, choice, and collaboration come first.

Person-Centered Therapy — You’re the expert on your. life. I bring the clinical tools and a supportive space. We figure out the rest together.

Who I work with

I work with teens (12 and up) and adults across Alaska. My clients come to me for many reasons including:

Anxiety that’s interfering with daily life

Depression or persistent low mood

Trauma and PTSD

Relationships and family challenges

Life transitions — new to Alaska, career changes, becoming a parent, loss, etc.

You don’t need a crisis to start therapy. If something doesn’t feel right and you want support figuring it out —that’s a great place to start

When I’m outside session

Growing up in Alaska, I love spending time with family and friends, reading all genres of books, trying new foods, and hiking. One of the most life changing adventures I’ve ever been on was completing the Kesugi Ridge trail. This experience taught me about embracing the unknown and my own capacity for resilience. I bring this experience and more to therapy — I’m excited to walk along side you.
